The Chameleon by Kaya Instruments is a camera simulator for CoaXPress Version 1 ("Kaya Chameleon") and CoaXPress Version 2 ("Kaya Chameleon II"). It is available as a PCIe card with either HD-BNC or SFP+ connectors for “CXP over Fibre”, or if you have no slots available, then as a stand-alone version that requires a Thunderbolt 3 port on your host, known as the "Kaya Chameleon Stand Alone".
The Kaya Chameleon CXP camera simulator generates video streams and test patterns in single, dual, and quad modes. Each of these CoaXpress links (up to 4) supports up to 12.5 Gbps bitrates. The Chameleon simulates generic test patterns, customer-designed pre-processed data, and customized video streams. Machine control signals can be simulated along with the accompanying video for GPIO – triggers, shaft encoders, exposure control and general I/O. Video can be generated from on-board memory or at run time from computer memory.
Connection to the frame grabber is by standard DIN Micro-BNC or by SFP+. Host computer video uploading and configuration is via Gen3 x8 (CXP2) or "CXP over Fiber".
